GA of the New MongoDB Shell!

After a year in Beta, we’re proud to announce the General Availability of mongosh, the new (and default!) shell for MongoDB! It is compatible with MongoDB 4.0 and later, so you don’t have to wait to upgrade to MongoDB 5.0 to start using it. You can download it and try it out now!

Think:
— Syntax highlighting
— World-class extensibility
— Local and global registries of reusable and modifiable ‘snippets’

That old war-horse known as mongo isn’t going away immediately, but is deprecated as of MongoDB 5.0 (What is MongoDB 5.0? Tune into MongoDB Live tomorrow, 13 July, to find out!).

Note that mongosh is not bundled with MongoDB Server, but can be easily downloaded from the MongoDB Download page.
